Manuel Álvarez Bravo (1902-2002) was a pioneering Mexican photographer known for his surreal and poetic images capturing Mexican culture. A self-taught artist, he played a key role in the Mexican artistic renaissance of the 1920s and was associated with influential figures like Diego Rivera and Frida Kahlo. His iconic work, "The Good Reputation Sleeping (1938)," is celebrated globally. Álvarez Bravo received the National Prize for Arts and Sciences in Fine Arts and Literature in 1993. His legacy endures as a major influence on contemporary photography.
