British photographer Stuart Franklin won critical acclaim for his coverage of the Sahel famine in Saharan Africa, and is best known for his photo of a man confronting a tank in Tiananmen Square in 1989, which won him a World Press Photo Award. He has worked for Sygma Agence Presse, Magnum Photos, National Geographic, and the National Trust. Franklin's recent work is primarily focused on the environment, as in major projects The Time of Trees (1999) and Sea Fever (2005), both examining the transformation of climate, landscape, and nature.
